13 Ways to keep warm this winter

The following are some of the ways to generating, maintain and supplement body's heat to help beat the cold and keep warm as well as minimizing heat use.

1.Dress in layers.

Heat retaining clothes made of cotton, polyester, fleece, be it leggings, Joggers or long-sleeved-tops, Turtlenecks, pants etc., can be worn as base layer. Layering is very effective way of keeping warm, it simply means wearing heat retaining cloths beneath your main wear.

Warm coats, woolen sweaters, insulated jackets can be worn over the base layer cloths.

You can layer as the cold levels warrants.

Layering will also help adjust in relation to temperatures.







2.Keep your extremities warm.

Wear warm gloves to warm up your hand because most often than not, the hands will get colder despite warming the body up. You can choose from woolen gloves, insulated, heated gloves. Feet too need to be warmed. Thick warm footwear to include thick socks or thermal, warm shoes or slippers can help generate or keep the warmth.








3.Keep your ears / neck warm.

With the ears being so exposed it is easy to feel cold. Ear / neck warmers keep them from the cold temperature. Wearing an earmuff, warm hat with ear flaps, Accessorize with Warm gaiters, scarves warm hats and warm head

bands.






4.Block gaps and/or open spaces.

cold air will get in the house through your windows window haps or beneath door etc., ensure you block these areas. You can get draft blockers, insulating film or simply roll up some rug against the space. Keep warm air in by adding heavy curtains on your glass doors and windows.







5.Hot drinks:

Take a cup of hot tea, chocolate, coffee, or a hot favorite drink of your choice to add up the feeling of warm. Insulated thermoses and cups help keep hot for a period of time.


6.Eat warm food as opposed to cold food to maintain your body heat


7.Move around/ exercise

Avoid sitting at one place. keep active to help circulate blood throughout your body hence generalized warmth. A light exercise will also help generate heat.


8.Extras warmers.

Have warm fleecy blankets be it throw blankets for your couch or one that you can carry for additional warmth, throw pillows add warmth and cozy feeling.








9.Space heaters

can be used to specifically heat one room for instance. There are several options for affordable small space heaters.


10.Turn off bathroom fan.

You can leave the door open instead or use these only when absolutely needed as it pulls warm air out of the house


11.Warm Floors.

Warm area rugs, fluffy rags, carpets provide insulation and keep floors warmer.









12.Light up a fire.

possible light up your fireplace for additional warmth. Be sure to prepare your fireplace way before the cold season. Minimize heat loss by keeping damper partially closed when the fire is hot.

Unused rooms. closed doors to unused rooms and ensure proper insulation to prevent heat loss.

13.Regulate heat.

Together with the aforementioned remedies, heat requirement hence consumption can be reduced by regulate the house heat according to temperature needs. Heat up the rooms that you spend more time in.
